Recipe Capelin pate

Capelin pate is a light and delicious dish that can be served as an appetizer.

Ingredients:

300 g capelin fillet (sea fish, boiled or baked)
1 onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons cream cheese
Juice of half a lemon
Salt and pepper to taste
Greens (dill, parsley) for decoration

Instructions:

If you are using fresh capelin fillets, prepare it: boil or bake in the oven until ready. If you use canned capelin, drain well from the liquid.

Heat a little oil in a deep frying pan and fry the onion until soft.

In a blender or food processor, combine capelin fillets, fried onions, garlic, mayonnaise, cream cheese and lemon juice.

Process all the ingredients until smooth.

Add salt and pepper to taste as needed. Mix it up.

Transfer the resulting capelin paste into a bowl, garnish with herbs and refrigerate before serving.

Capelin pate is served with toast, bread, crackers or as a filling for sandwiches.
